Friday September 22 - Saturday September 23, 2006

The youth ministry program will be sponsoring a 24 HR Famine from Friday September 22-Saturday September 23. The program will involve the "honor system" where youth are asked to fast from 10 a.m. until 6:00 when they will join other participants in the Transfiguration Hall for a night of fasting together until 10 a.m. the next morning where the group will attend morning mass, followed by a brunch in the parish hall for all participants. Throughout the night youth can participate in a variety of organized activites. The minimum donation is $25 per participant with money going towards World University Service of Canda (WUSC), offering scholarships and housing to young people in the third world country to receive an education at the University of Toronto.

Winter Retreat '07
Friday January 5 - Sunday January 7, 2007

This retreat will be run by our youth ministry team.  It will run from Friday evening (January 5th) until Sunday afternoon (January 7th).  It will take place at the Mount Alverno Retreat Center in Caledon, located 45 minutes north of Toronto.

This retreat experience is meant for youth and young adults (grade 9 age and up) who are members of our parish.  It promises to be a fun-filled and faith-deepening experience.  This retreat is subsidized by the youth ministry, but we are asking that each retreatant contribute $70 to help cover the cost. The cost includes all meals and snacks, transportation, site rental fees and retreat materials.  Youth who cannot afford payment are asked to speak to Emanuel Pires after one of the Sunday morning masses or to e-mail him at prez_romeo@hotmail.com , as further subsidization may be available. Click here to download a form for our winter retreat. Registration form and money deadline is Sunday December 24, 2006. Click here to see a photo gallery of our previous winter retreat.

Details / Things to bring with you on the retreat

1. Departure and Arrival Times - We will begin loading the cars at 3:45 p.m. on Friday, and we will be leaving by 4:15 p.m. (earlier if we have everyone on board). On Sunday, we'll be back at the church around 2:00 p.m.

2. Friday night dinner - We should warn you that Mount Alverno will not be giving us a full-course dinner on Friday night. The youth ministry will provide a dinner for you that evening.

3. List of things to remember - here is a reminder checklist for you (not all items apply to everyone of course):

* Pillow
* Sleeping bag or sheets
* Towel, face cloth
* Toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, deodorant
* Brush, comb, blow dryer
* Medications (if you take any, especially allegies)
* Indoor footwear
* Warm Clothes/Winter Gear
* Phone card/small change
* Board games

4. Please note that we won't have a lot of space in the cars so bring ONLY WHAT IS NECESSARY. We won't have any extra space. If it doesn't fit in one bag then don't bring it (obviously a sleeping bag and pillow don't count).
